Joined my school's Robotics Club!

08.01.2025

Around when I started school, I joined my school's Robotics club, Tulsa Community Combat Robotics. They focus on robots similar to what is done on the Battle Bots TV show. I wasn't sure how big/official the club was, but I was shocked for what I was in for... These guys are serious.

About TCCR

The club was mostly made up of people that have been doing this for a while, and I joined the club at a unique time. The club's president, Draton, actually just completed the process for the group to be an official club sponsored by the school. Before that, it was more unofficial with about 5 members just trying to get things going. At this time, the club's goals were growing and official positions were being established.

They needed a couple of Lead positions filled, people with previous experience on a subject that could fulfill certain duties to help the club grow. One of the needed positions was a 'Social Media Lead' that handled the AV/IT technical setup and content creation for their Live-streams. The goals were to improve live-stream aesthetics and quality for viewer entertainment.

I had previous experience with the software required and concepts that was very much needed, as I have helped my girlfriend who also wanted to start Streaming in the past. So I volunteered and was quickly elected! I shared my ideas and they were excited for what I could do... I wanted to make a good impression, so I went a few extra miles...

My Work

While completing my classes and learning what goes into combat robotics to eventually build my own Robot (It's a mixture of mostly CAD and some EE), I did the following for the Club's Live-stream as the Social Media Lead:

Everything besides the logo (Made by TCCR member, Rachel[SGA]) was made by me.

Wrap-Up

It's been a busy last 8 months from everything, but I feel I accomplished a lot, and the club seems very happy with my work. I even made a small 'Coding Project' from a position that originally didn't require it and created my own experience. After a few more technical improvements I'll be taking a break to put more time into creating and designing my own robot.

The club has been a huge thing in my life. I've been discovering that Oklahoma actually has a huge robotics community! I've already attended a couple of events that featured my club, been meeting other clubs that align with my interests such as the 'Oklahoma Droid Builders', and making new friends that share my interest in technology! My next update will either be around a robot I'll be designing or an EE project I've been trying to get working on the side.

Special thanks to the TCCR Team! (From left to right) Rachel [SGA], Me [Social Media Lead], Brandon [Mechanical Design Lead], Draton [Club Founder/President], Eliot [Member], Kody [Electrical Engineering Lead], and Micheal [Vice President].
